Improv Comedy Classes
DSI Comedy Training Center classes are designed for adults and recommended for persons 17 or older, however, some exceptions may be made. We schedule teen classes (for high school and middle school students) on regular basis; contact us for more information. Our Scenework Classes for Longform Improv
Our courses are designed for students interested in learning and performing improv comedy, but people wishing to study improv for fun will also be interested in taking classes with us. Be prepared to have fun, to learn, and to laugh.
IMPROV 101: Fundamentals of Improv Comedy
IMPROV 101 explores the basics of comedy improvisation: team-building, trust, speed, status, active listening, and agreement. Students learn to be fearless and have fun on stage using the DSI approach to improv comedy.
No comedy or theater experience necessary. FREE ADMISSION WHILE ENROLLED.

IMPROV 201: Game of the Scene and Patterns
IMPROV 201 focuses on the two-person scene, building on the fundamentals from 101. Students learn to identify the game of the scene, developing and heightening patterns of interaction.

Our Longform Improv Classes
IMPROV 301: Character and Relationships
IMPROV 301 builds on the game of the scene from 201. Learn to instantly create solid characters (voice, attitude and physicality) and develop meaningful relationships in every scene you perform. Raise the stakes of the game by exploring the space between.

IMPROV 401: The Harold, Introduction to the Form
Know Harold, the most widely performed improv format. From organic openings, second and third beats and group scenes, students learn the structure that makes Harold the standard for every longform. Be prepared to learn a strict foundation.
Read Truth in Comedy prior to taking this class.

How to Make The Most of Your Classes
If you want to make the most of your classes:
- Arrive to class on time, every time.
- Listen to your teacher, bring a notebook and take notes.
- Actively listen to your classmates on stage.
- Watch improv whenever possible (shows are FREE for enrolled students).
- Turn off your cell phone.
- Engage your instructor in conversation about the artform.
